Do I need a referral for physiotherapy treatment?

No, if you are a private patient seeking physiotherapy treatment, you do not need a referral from a doctor – just call and make an appointment straight away. However, if you are seeking treatment via an insurance claim through Workers Compensation or Motor Vehicle Accident Claims or are seeking treatment via DVA (Department of Veteran Affairs) or Medicare, you will need a doctor’s referral requesting physiotherapy treatment.

Can I change my appointment?

Yes. Our physiotherapists understands that unexpected events may prevent you from making you physiotherapy appointment on time. However, we do request that you call the clinic to notify them of any change 24hrs prior to your scheduled appointment time. Cancellations without 24hrs prior notice or non-attendance to your appointment will incur a fee.

What if I am running late for my appointment?

If you are running late for your appointment, please call the clinic to inform us. Unfortunately this may mean that your treatment session is shortened so that we remain on schedule. If you are running very late, you may be asked to reschedule your appointment to a more convenient time and you may incur a reschedule fee.

What should I wear to my treatment session?

Depending on the area of injury, it is more than likely that the physiotherapist will need to view and palpate the area of injury for adequate investigation and treatment. We ask that you wear comfortable, loose clothing that could easily and modestly expose the area of injury. For example, if you have a sore shoulder, a singlet would be best or if you need treatment on your knees, than please wear shorts. Form fitting underwear is recommended and there is a change room available for you to use. If you are required to disrobe, your physiotherapist will ensure you are adequately draped and maintain privacy at all times. We ask that you be clean and free of dirt and sweat before your treatment sessions.
